It’s a great coastal destination, which is serene and has clear blue water. It is known as the Queen Beach of the Konkan region. It is very crowded and hence a paradise for those who like solace. It’s very crowded, and people, at times, choose it over the Goan beaches.

The Sindhudurg Fort spans over 48 acres. It was curated and designed for a strategic naval defense against foreign threats. It has massive and strong walls, bastions, and ramparts. It is accessible only through a ferry from the nearby coast. It has an artistic and creative temple and a hand imprint of Shivaji. The Maharashtra tourism development corporation has been promoting post a boom in tourism that started in the late 20th/early 2000s.

Tarkali is a long beach. It’s absolutely safe and ideal for swimming and adventure activities. For the most unique experience, you should do some snorkeling. The clear water allows you to explore the beauty of the marine life. You will see some colorful species, fish, and the vibrant corals. It’s best to enjoy mid-mornings when the sun visibility is high. It’s not very expensive and is quite accessible too. 

Get your gear and jump into the sea for Scuba Diving. With just some basics, it’s even ok for beginners to do it . Even beginners can easily do it at Tarkali. A premier beach destination, which has the Indian Institute of Scuba Diving and Aquatic Sports (IISDA). It’s India’s first-ever integrated school located near the Tarkali beach. The students get to practise at the Legendary Burnt Island (Lighthouse), which acts as the best diving sites of the western coast of India. 

You can wake up in the early hours and take a boat ride to spot Dolphins, I think one of the most exhilarating feelings to spotting one. Its playful leaps and synchronization are a beautiful sight. It’s a joyful experience to connect to nature. The Tour here takes you on a boat ride that moves alongside them and leaves you with an unforgettable memory. So hop into the boat before 9 am for sure. 

At the backwaters, you can stay at Hiranykeshu and Karli houseboats in the Karli River. You need not go all the way to Kerala. They have AC rooms and good aesthetic decor. Malvani meals you can relish on and enjoy this overnight experience. In October and March, you shall come across some bird watching and scenery. By conversing with the locals, you can learn more about the life and culture of Tarkali. 

Other beaches you can visit here are Devbagh Beach, Achra Beach, Chivla Beach, and Tsunami Island. The place is best for seeking tranquility and relaxing their minds. It’s also a perfect blend of stunning beaches with the Konkan experience. You can pick some cashew nuts and bars that are very fresh. Amba Poli, Amba wadi,Kokam wadi and karvande wadi.

How and when you visit Tarkali

The Best time to visit is during winter as it offers pleasant weather. Days a brighter nights are cooler. It’s less humid and has a good breeze. It’s also a peak season for water activities and sightseeing. So it’s a perfect merge of weather, adventure, and cultural exploration. Summers are hot but manageable, whereas monsoons are green nd lush, but you might miss the water activities due to higher tides. Kudal and Sindhudurg are the nearest railway stations. They are just 20-35 km away from the beach. They are well-connected to the major cities. You can hop into a local tuk-tuk or taxi to reach Tarkali. Malvan is also just 7km away, so you can also drive up to here by state-run buses, taxis, or from Mumbai, Goa, or Pune by the Malvan Kasal road.  By flight, you can go up to the Goa or Kolhapur airport and then take a taxi from there. For your local travels, if you don’t have a car, then hop on to mini-buses, auto-rikshaws, and taxis.
