Girgaon Chowpatty – A beach to be during Ganesh Visarjan! Mumbai overloaded with Dhol Tasha

Girgaon Chowpatty

Girgaon Chowpatty! Not all are lucky to have beaches in their town. Though we are sure all spaces, cities, and towns have a water body, due to geographical situations, some cities and states are close to beaches. We’ve seen in Hollywood movies many people spend their family time on beaches, and also a lot of them go into water sports and explore the seabed. It’s like an experience, and we even feel like having a beach picnic. Well, kids love sand play, and so do they also have the chance to twirl in the sand and make sand castles. Picking shells and creating some stuff is another delight.

Walking by the sea with your loved ones and dipping your feet, playing around with the waves is such a memory one always wants to create. Beach shacks and shopping are yet another fun time one has.

People who live in places with no beaches have another level of happiness and fascination when they see the sea. Some famous beaches are loaded with people, and the joy in their eyes is immeasurable. Plunging into the sea, getting drenched in waves, and playing around is a childhood dream. Not to forget the free spa that you get for your feet while you walk on the beach sand, salty and crunchy. Bare foot is a total relaxation experience and feeling.

So there are some cool coastal zones in India, and hence you don’t have to go all the way to Hollywood to fulfil that dream.

India has a perishing long coastal line at its borders, and so many cities and places have some great beaches you can spend time on. Some are way too secluded and quiet zones, while some are filled with people and activities. Depends which person are you the crowded one or the loner.

Though we all need some me time and quiet time, which you will definitely find on the beach even though it is crowded. It all matters what you do and how much you are in the present moment to enjoy the sea breeze and water beds.

Girgaon Chowpatty

Girgaon Chowpatty- a beach to be

When we all plan our trips to Mumbai, this place is fascinating and super hype to visit. It’s always part of your Mumbai darshan bus ride and trips that you plan to discover it. So Many parts of the Mumbai Coastal zone in the city itself don’t have the sand to sprawl on, except a few that you can be at.

Well, we all have heard of Marine Drive, which is famously known as the Queen’s Necklace, but its Northern belt has some sand for you. That’s where Girgaon Chowpatty beach is. Don’t confuse it with Juhu Chowpatty; that’s in a different area itself. Sticking to this beach, it’s very much in the heart of the city and tremendously filled with activities, food, and people. Some people also want to sleep in the sand here by the beach.

In the early years, there were no set rules or timings to follow here since it was public, but with various security purposes and development, you will see timings that you can visit this place. You will also see cops around to take care of the safety. You can just hop, jump, or skip from the nearby railway station, city buses, or taxis, and there you go; you’re just a small walk away from the sea.

How fascinating and happiness is to have a beach just so close by to your home. Many people have homes close to the beach; imagine the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from your window. How lucky, but don’t forget it comes with a great cost to have a living by the sea in a city like Mumbai. Here swimming in not safe, so don’t jump due to highs sea currents.

Girgaon Chowpatty – A hub for Big Ganesha Visarjan

Being kilometers long across the Arabian Sea, it has immense space and depth to help with the great Lord Ganeshas festivals 10th and 11th days of the deity’s immersion. Across Mumbai, people come in processions to do this yearly ritual. Solid bandobast with security is organised for smooth activities, crowd control, and protection of the people here.

It’s a one-stop destination to get darshan of all the Bigger Ganeshas you see on television and in scrolls. Even after visiting the Ganesh pandals, people come all the way from all parts of the city to bid goodbye. People also travel from other cities and countries to be part of this festival. The procession is so much fun with dhol tasha, music, and bhajans for the lord. It’s an amazing community gathering that we all wait for. From GSB to Lalbaug cha raja, all are immersed here.

This place is also famous for Ravan dahan. So, come what may your busy trip schedules plan it for August or September to experience Ganesh Visarjan here.
