Summer Treks- A Night to remember !

Summer Treks
Summer Treks under the sun. Oh no! But we will, oh yes!
Well, not in the day for sure.
So to kill the heat and protect you from the sun, some crazy adventure and trek lovers explore the forest and summit mountains in the moonlight.

Well, it’s not just in one particular region and time of the day and night that people trek, but many choose to walk post midnight and early hours of the day.
Yes, there are several colder regions in India that allow you to explore the mountain ranges even in summer at a good temperature.

Especially summer camps, treks, and mountaineering courses are conducted in the North, which give you a mix of cold, summer, and rain. These spots are ideal for trekking during long vacations.

Summer Treks - Night trekking sounds exciting!

Summer is the time when the mountains and forests are cooler at night and in the early hours of the rising sun. It’s one of the unique experiences, adventurous yet scary for some. Only if you’re okay to live, walk, sleep, and trek in the dark forest and mountain terrain, then opt for this one.

Treks and trails for night trekking are quite safe, but always good to choose a trek group or local villagers to climb up, as they may lose the route since Google Maps doesn’t work up there.

Places to go for night trekking in India

The Sayadhris especially in Maharashtra, there are good opportunities to experience this.
Leave your nearest city by 830pm or 9 pm, it takes your few 3-4 hours to reach base camp.
At times, you may have to sleep on a bus or just play some games and sing songs to reach here.

First up comes the highest peak of Maharashtra, known as Kalsubai peak, in the Igatpuri region. Reaching up in the night on top with its super cool breeze, you will be at 5,400 ft.

It’s physically demanding, as one way takes about 4-6 hours to climb, depending on your speed. Sleep in the cold breeze and wake up with the sunrise and darshan of Ma Kalsubai mandir.
Get your cameras out for the most fascinating view of the shayadris and clouds, and take a memorable pic of you being on top of the highest peak.

Your best can happen only in the night, I must tell you this!
The night sounds of the forest, the silence, and the peace.

The night crickets, bird sounds, and the fragrance of the forest trees, plants, and wild flowers. Walking with your friends quietly without disturbing wildlife with your torches on is an existing experience. When you reach the mountain ranges, it’s always ok to take some rest in open plateaus or Meadows.

Don’t forget to take your bedsheets and sleeping bags.
You’re going to have the most peaceful rest and sleep of your life. But ya, as long as you don’t fear the sounds, darkness, and the forest environment, you’re good to go.

Also, don’t miss enjoying the hot Maggie in the middle of the night and your Kurkures and chips from your bag. Well, this is one hell of an overnight or a  night gathering, which is super adventurous and a night to remember.
With the right gears, you can also choose to climb up to the Rajmachi fort. Very easy, illuminated with lights and historical settings. Don’t miss the fireflies here in may June.

Hairshchandragad, is quite a stir in the trekking world. It has some great routes, rappelling, and caving opportunities. Cool weather, flowers all the way, perfect for reels and pictures.

Whereas Ratangad will give you cosy nights, trek and trail opportunities. A fort on top will give you panoramic views, and the beauty of Sahyadris is what you will experience. Don’t forget whenever you go to carry 2 litres of water, as there might be some spots where you might not find enough water supplies.

Stay hydrated by having some melons, kokkam Sharbats, ors, nimbu paani and oranges. Eat light, carry light. Wear sunscreen as it’s direct heat and sun on you. Carry your caps, headgear and goggles.
Next up with step-cut rocks in Nasik, famous for its night trek, is Harihar fort. Forts have been a great adventure for people and also a connection to our history books.

Climbing up Harihar is not easy, as it is tough, so better to be well prepared to make sure you are safe and part of the group and not trek alone without any technical guidance and support.

Kothligad gives you a great sunrise memory. Rapid and not very long as a trek, it’s an easy climb up to the summit. Sleep in grass Meadows here and enjoy the night sky, stars and views.
Not to forget, all these places have less pollution, so more views of shooting stars and great moonlight.

62 km away from Panvel, you have Karnala bird sanctuary, which is a very well-protected zone where hundreds of birds reside. Rich in biodiversity and flora, and fauna.

It is also a Karnala fort to climb up. Up on the mountain, there is a huge plateau where you can accommodate yourself in a tent or just in the outdoors.

So Google up summer night treks and pick a cool adventure company that will take you into the wilds and help you experience night trekking and camping in the forest. Help you learn to overcome your fears and explore the night trails
