Lohagad Fort ! Magnificient in monsoons ! History and beautiful trail

Lohagad Fort

Lohagad Fort! Go back to your history books, and you will definitely see this name. Some of us like history; some don’t, but we have faded memories of

Kings and empires that built huge walls and forts the protect their people and dynasties. Soldiers in 1000’s protected their people. These forts were maintained and decorated in those days.

Ancient architects strategically built the forts in such a way that was beautiful and at a destination in the forests, on top of mountain tops with a mesmerizing view.
Royals and kings lived a king-sized life with their families and people. Truly outstanding piece of work with rocks and stones. Water harvesting system to wind system, and all were in place. But yes, we’ve also heard of fights for acquiring empires and forts to capture land and space that happened to belong to one dynasty and was taken over by others.
Like others, Lohagad fort carries its history too. In the second century BCE, it was ruled by many Rulers and empires until Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured it in the 16th century.

Lohagad Fort! Massive and beautiful place

The entrance itself is so beautiful, as you reach there, you will see the Ganesh Darwaja with massive huge rocks, and the beauty is out of the world.

Forst just doesn’t have one huge door, but there are more doors you will come across, known as the Narayan Darwaja, Hanuman Darwaja, and Maha Darwaja.
For the soldiers and military of the Royal dynasty, a Scorpian tail shape rock structure was built. It was attached to the main structure of the Lohagad fort.
It’s a famous historic site and visited by many history lovers, Architects, and trekkers.

Lohagad Fort is near Lonavala, a popular hill station in Maharashtra. It is also close to the city of Pune. Hence, if you go from Lonavala, it is 16km only, and from Pune, it will take a little longer.

The beautiful mountain and fort are part of the humongous Sayadrhis. Best is to enjoy this place in monsoon and winters, and if you’re a night person, then summers at night up there will show you stars and some breeze in the heat. Malvavli station is where you need to go first, and its base is Lohagadwadi, and from here, you can either take a car halfway or climb all the way to the top.

At Lohagadwadi, you will meet locals who will guide you and also help you get fresh, enjoy a Maharashtrian snack or meals. You can pay the villagers as a token of love and earn a livelihood.

You can also trek up alone, but a local guide is more fun as they will give you a brief on the iron gate.
There are some nice homestays by villagers near the base camp, so expect a very good experience and immerse yourself in local Maharashtrian culture.
Garma garam chai, poha, and misal paav are a must-try. Maharastrain lunch and dinner meals are also not to be forgotten. You can also pre-book meals with locals if you wish to try non-veg food.

Some locals here are good photographers, hence you can hire them too, and they will guide you to the fort.
Mind it that the staircase and trails are heavier to climb, so wear proper clothes and shoes with good grips. On the way up to the trek, you will meet locals selling lime water and buttermilk to keep you hydrated.

The fort is taken care of by the Archeological department, hence you pay some fees at the entrance. In monsoons, the forts get quite slippery, so locals suggest you go up early and come back early.

Lohagad a Beauty

The mesmerizing and beautiful Western Ghats. You can also see the Tikona fort and Visapur from there. In the monsoon, it becomes green, misty, and cloudy.

You will see many waterfalls and streams to enjoy and drench yourself in the rain. Slide in the mud and go crazy. In Winter and after the rains, you will get to see some amazing sunrises and sunsets here.

As you walk through the trail, you will see some scenic and beautiful greenery everywhere.
Lohagad is quite safe and a moderate and easy trek, so don’t worry a lot, just choose a good adventure company to take you there, or take a local guide.

Recently, Lohagad Fort has been part of the sad case of Siya Goyal, but this place is a great place to visit if you’re with the right company and people.
