Mumbai Pune Expressway

Mumbai Pune Expressway! A road that leads to meet the Queen of the Deccans.

We’ve often heard about Pune and a growing metro city, but it continues to maintain its greens, peace, and pace. The next choice after Mumbai in Maharastra it has a massive crowd and lively there. Pune was earlier known for its highest number of cycles, keeping it pollution-free for many years.
It was quite easy to hop onto your cycle and move along the city. Well, that tradition is still maintained today. You will still see many people going on a cycle out there.
Mumbai Pune expressway
It’s one of Maharashtra’s world of Culture. It has a booming education and IT sector here, making a lot of people come here to study and improve their lives.
It has several heritage spots, it’s quite spacious, and a city at peace.
Local dialect being Maharastrain, you will find some great and unique traditions maintained here in the town.
The rich culture of the Marathas thrives in this city. The town is quite vast in its kilometers, so don’t call it a small town. Its history of education insitutions calls it a hub and an Oxford of the East.

When in Pune, you must visit the Aga Khan Palace. Sinhagad fort and Shaniwar vada.  Go bonkers on Misal paav, Vada Paav, and poha. Go for the most yummy Dahi Lassi near the station area. Kayani Bakery’s famous strawberry biscuits are another delight of the city. Winters, monsoons, you kinda fall in love with this city.

For weekends, there are ample places to chill in the land of Deccan.
Greens, lush flowers, and great weather with a cup of chai and vada is perfect. You will also see a lot of Indian forces, as it is also one of the best centers here.
Mumbai Pune Expressway

Pune Lonavala Expressway to a weekend gateway.

Pune was built in different eras, making it a Decaan Queen in the east. Just a few kilometers The british raj built a beautiful hill station called Lonavala. Not only close for Punekars but also for Mumbaikars. A green hill top a beauty, a weekender. In the early years, there were very few settlements, and locals lived in a green pasture. Very few bungalows were built by the British.
In the early centuries, the Buddhists carved and built the Bhaja Caves and Bedsa Caves.

To protect their people and dynasty, many rulers and royals built forts like Lohagad Fort, Visapur, and Rajmachi.

Lonvala is a trekker’s and camper’s delight. Explore the green forests, climb mountains, enjoy the waterfalls, and fireflies.  You will also come across some amazing dams and their view along side you drive. People also drive up a Swarg point, which is actually heading into the misty mountains, green and lush with their families. It’s a 40-minute drive from the hill town, exploring the terrains. Once you’re up its super cool and enjoy hot chai with corn fitters. Corn is definitely a yes, whether it’s roasted in butter or a bhel.

Travel on a weekend. Just got better!

In the early 90s, roadways were not as cool as it is today. It used to take hours to reach this hilltop due to heavy traffic, steep turns, and hairpin turns. As it is also a crossing to another state from Maharashtra, Mumbai, it was loaded with weekenders, Wagers, Travellers, Tourists, and Truck loaders. But it was the most scenic and fun ride. A nostalgic memory that shall stay forever, to reach this hilltop, you would have to also enter Khandala Hill Station. It’s almost the same as Lonvala but comes from the Mumbai side of the travel route.
Khandala is 5km away from Lonavala, though. It also has a place called Monkey Hill, where you will really see wildlife and monkeys popping up to say hi.
It has a tiger leap point, Monkey point, and a famous trek called the duke’s nose.
The Yashwant Chavan Mumbai Pune Expressway  were built in the late 90s and early 20s. A total 360-degree turn to the slow 5-6 hour travel time reduced to just 2-3 hours for quick drivers. At times, people reach here in just 2 hrs or less if you have no travel and chill. From Mumbai its called The Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai Pune Expressway. It’s a bypass from Lonavala. In 2026, they launched the Khopoli Kusgaon expressway, called the Missing Link.

So if you want to travel now to Pune, Lonavala, Khandala from Mumbai or Vice versa, you will experience a quick drive, so scenic, so clean, and super beautiful. Halts on the way take you to the local and modern cuisine for meals to brunch on. Be ready to pay some tolls on the expressway and always drive at your comfortable speed limit. Avoid going on the other lane if you’re not used to high speeds, as it might be fatal. But it’s quite a safe ride and a fun ride.
So hop onto a Car, a Volvo bus, or a bike and head to the expressway. There are also many trains which take you through the mountain ranges so you cna opt that too.
